Spice organization can be tricky at times because they all come in different shapes and sizes. Not all brands offer the same type of spice so the labels don’t match. This might not be the end of the world to you but it is to some. Using spices are usually quick and get put back immediately without much thought. After awhile, things start to build up and the organization you so perfectly created is now gone. Don’t worry, you can reclaim your spice organization.
Here’s how you can get things back in control.
- Empty: Take out every single spice you have wherever it may be. Group them together by size. Once that’s been completed, start sorting them by most frequently used. Get rid of any duplicate spices or consolidate them if possible. Clean out the cabinets or drawers of where they’ve been stored, I can promise you it’s dirty.
- Organize: Put the spices together by most frequently used, this will save you time when searching for that particular spice. Alphabetization is tedious and challenging to keep up with in this circumstance unless you absolutely know for sure you will put them back in the correct order. If it’s going to bother you that larger spices will be in front of smaller ones, I recommend buying spice containers that are all the same height and have a similar look.
- Store: Put the spices back in your desired location. Can be a drawer or cabinet, wherever you chose, make sure they are easily accessible. One option is to put the frequently used in the cabinet and the remaining ones back in the drawer. The least frequently used spices don’t need to be taking up valuable storage space, so chose your frequently used spices wisely.
You can do this in less than 30 minutes! I challenge you to attack your spices and get them organized!
