When you finally know what you need from your medicine cabinet, it consists of you emptying out the entire cabinet because you know the bottle you’re looking for but there’s too much in your way to find it.
We have a dedicated area in our medicine cabinet for our kids. It’s full of medicine for colds, allergies, stomach aches, tylenol, etc. However whenever I would need to get the tylenol I would end up taking out the cold and allergy too because the bottles are the same size. It sometimes hard to see the label so I just go with what I know, the size of the bottle. I was getting frustrated with this method because I kept taking out multiple bottles. I tried using a 3-tier spice organizer but that didn’t work very well either.
I knew there had to be a simpler way of doing this. I originally was going to just mark the kids medicine so it was easy to find with a piece of washi tape. I put washi tape on all of the lids, after they were all taped with washi tape, I realized putting a one word label on there would easily identify the bottle that was needed. What a difference this has made!
Here’s how you can quickly identify a bottle in your medicine cabinet:
- Get washi tape.
- Use a cabinet or countertop to lengthen out the amount of tape that is needed (it’s best to go longer than shorter.)
- Use a scissors to cut the tape in half.
- Wrap the top of the lid of the bottle with the washi tape.
- Label it.
Here’s a list of one word categories we used for the labels:
This is a very simple, easy, and effective way to organize your medicine cabinet.
