The Shopping season is officially here! Did you go Black Friday shopping?! I made it out and to much of my surprise, it wasn’t as busy as I anticipated.
While it’s an exciting time especially if you have younger children, the joy and excitement they have for Christmas is priceless. However, there are also challenges when the Holidays arrive with younger children.
Here are four ways that will help you get through the Holiday season with little ones.
1. Lower your expectations. This means with everything, from having less decorations to fewer ornaments. Expect your little ones wanting “to help”. With their help, plan for decorating to take a little bit longer than usual and expect an ornament or two will get broken.
2. Shop strategically. Make a plan. List out everyone you plan to buy gifts for, what you plan to buy them, and where to get the gift. Also include your budget because that’s important as well. Once your list is made, plan out your route and the best way to check everything off the list. Check on store hours before heading out, most stores are opening longer during the Holiday season
3. Online shop. Most companies will offer free shipping during this time of year, take advantage of it and avoid the crowds! I’m usually on top of it during the Christmas season and most of my shopping is done the first week of December. Last year, I did not buy one gift until December 15th, kid you not. I did all of my shopping online, took advantage of the free shipping and was done within two days.
4. Wrap Alone. If possible, wrap during nap time. Wrapping can be time consuming, my rule of thumb is to plan 10 minutes per gift.
Is there anything that has worked well for you during the Holiday season with little ones?
