Organization is meant to make life easier. It saves time, money, and arguably the most important, your sanity. The ADHD in me wants things to be easy all. the. time. I haven’t figured out all the solutions yet but I have figured out one that’s a complete game changer, wall hooks.
It’s as simple as it gets. Wall hooks have come so far that you don’t even need a hammer, nail, or drill. Sign me up! Things on the floor drive me absolutely crazy. You have to watch where you are walking, which for ADHD’ers is already a challenge in itself.
The room feels like it’s caving in when things are on the floor, it’s like playing lava when you were a kid. You’re jumping from one place to the next.
Clothes piled on the floor are a mess, even though putting them on a hangar is the logical thing to do, it is much easier to put them on the floor especially after a long day of work, running kids to practice, and trying to figure out what’s for dinner. The last thing you want to be concerned about is where your clothes are going which is why they end up on the floor.

WHY LIFE IS EASIER WITH WALL HOOKS
- They allow you to move the items that are constantly on the floor to an organized space. When an item is hung up, it looks good.
- They save you time from having to hang up an item on a hanger if you don’t want to. I personally dread hanging up clothes on a hanger even though I love how they look afterwards. Using a hook is a transition from the floor to a hanger. You can quickly hang up an item on a hook versus a hanger.
- They make it easy to find things. There’s usually a select few items on a hook because it can only hold so much. When you also put the same item on the same hook, you know where to find it. For example, a purse or a jacket. Putting it in the same place is peace of mind because you always know where it is and you don’t have to waste time looking for it.
- It makes it easy to batch process. Batch process on hooks? Yes. If you have a hook or multiple hooks that you use in your bedroom, you typically hang up clothes there. Sometimes the amount of clothing on the hooks grows, and you then get to a point where something needs to change. It’s easier to hang up a group of clothes on hangers or fold them versus doing one at a time.
SIMPLE SOLUTIONS FOR WALL HOOKS
1. HATS
Baseball hats, dress-up hats, Kentucky derby hats you name it, wall hooks are great for all types of hats. There are not many products for hats when it comes to organizing and organizing them in a closet is a challenge. They take up either valuable shelf space or sit there awkwardly like a junior high kid.
Moving hats to the wall frees up closet space and makes use of the wall. It beautifies any closet and incorporates your style. It keeps them off the floor and eliminates the frustration of seeing another one of your husband’s hats for the 18th time.
2. KEYS
The best place to put any type of keys is on a wall hook. This keeps them visible and prevents them from getting lost. There is nothing worse than trying to leave and not being able to find your keys.
Hanging keys on a wall hook by the door, yes by the door makes you never forget where they are. This solution creates a habit of putting them away right when you walk in the door. It’s easy and done immediately.
3. HANDBAGS
Handbags have no place on the ground, yet that’s where they often end up. Adding wall hooks prevents them from going on the ground and absorbing all that bacteria.
Another reason why wall hooks work well for handbags in the entryway (next to the keys *cough) is another trigger to hang it up immediately when you walk in the door. It keeps it off the floor and is easily accessible when it’s time to go.
Wall hooks are a great thing to have for guests too.
4. BACKPACKS
If you have kids, you know things end up on the floor. It’s like they all gave each other a memo “Let’s annoy our parents by leaving everything on the floor.”
Wall hooks are great for kids because they can reach them. When it’s easy for them, they’ll do it. Creating a backpack station with hooks gets them in the habit of putting their backpack in the same place. Long gone are the days of “I can’t find my backpack” as you’re walking out the door.
5. JACKETS
Hanging up the jacket you wear on a daily basis on a hanging is annoying. There are too many steps involved:
- Take off the jacket
- Open the door to get the hanger
- Grab the hanger
- Hang the jacket on the hanger
- Put the jacket back on the hanging shelf
- Close the door
Versus using a wall hook:
- Take off the jacket
- Grab the hook hole on the jacket
- Hang up the jacket
6. LOUNGEWEAR
Using wall hooks for loungewear or pajamas makes it easy to transition from work clothes to comfy clothes. At the end of the day, you’re tired, hanging up and putting clothes away is the last thing you want to do.
Utilize hooks for the transition from loungewear to comfy wear then in the morning when you’re rested and getting ready for work, the other clothes can be put away.
